ABOUT OUR SCHOOL
At Walter Miller Elementary we have a student population of approximately 475 students in grades K through 4. We are proud to offer a full-day kindergarten program. Our school also offers Learning Support, Title I and Academic Enrichment (gifted) programs to meet the individual needs of some of our students.
Our Specials include Art, Music, Library and Physical Education, as well as a Reading Specialist.
Our school is technologically advanced with a full-building high-speed wireless internet network, computers in every classroom and in the library, Smart Boards and projectors, iPad carts and more.
We encourage student involvement in our school beyond the regular curricular program. Extra-curricular programs are available for our students in many areas, including: The Safety Patrol, Intramurals, Chorus, Band, Orchestra, Art Studio, Service Club, and Reading Olympics.
The Walter Miller School offers a “Prevention and Intervention” program for all of our students through the MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) Team. The focus is on identifying students who may be experiencing difficulty with basic learning or life skills and then following a well-designed process in providing assistance to the student, teacher and family.

Memorial Garden

A focal point of the Walter Miller Elementary School is the "Memorial Garden" located in the library courtyard. The Memorial Garden was dedicated on October 15, 1998 as a tribute to a beloved and respected Instructional Assistant, Mrs. Marian "Mazz" Schneider. Mrs. Schneider worked as an Instructional Assistant in the Learning Support Program at Walter Miller Elementary School and passed away in 1997. In memory of Mrs. Schneider, the entire Miller community contributed to the development of this serene garden. A beautiful bronze plaque graces the exterior library wall in memory of Mrs. Schneider.

Located in the center of the Memorial Garden is a patio and seating area in memory of Danielle Rae Bender. Danielle attended the Walter Miller Elementary School from September 1999 through December 2000 in Kindergarten and First Grade. This lasting memorial area was donated by George Morris and Family. A beautiful statue of a little girl on a bench , and trees and flowers in a landscaped area, were given in memory of Danielle by the Walter Miller PTO and the Walter Miller Elementary Girl Scout Troops.
